Spring Studio Filmed and edited a one hour concert spectacular video for the Melbourne Singers of Gospel. Conducted by Darren Wicks at the Melbourne Ladies College. Kew.

In a change of pace for example, we filmed a Four hour Boxing Championship in Flemington Victoria using 3 cameras. It was one long take.

Later that year The Choir of Hard Knocks directed by Jonathan Welsh AM was filmed at the BMW edge .

During 2015 we videoed Annemarie Sharry Band at the Boite Cafe , with four cameras and simple audio. A great night out!

We made In Pursuit of Ecstasy, a 100 minute documentary about the life and times of Painter Dennis Spiteri. Hillcrest Studio in country Victoria became the location for his film which certainly revealed the depth and breadth of Spiteri’s Work.

His purpose built art studio is situated at Highlands near Yea which is open to visitors by appointment and well worth a visit.

In Pursuit of Ecstasy‘ covers his life from arriving as a child from Malta to his current work. The nearby Arboretum, planted by Dennis, becomes a natural outdoor sound stage for the film.

Dennis and Margaret s launched ‘In Pursuit of Ecstasy’ on 8 March 2017.

2011 – 13 video projects

Credit Where Credit is Due‘ production, multicast and live video was a memorable tribute to Julia Gillard. The video celebrates her important achievements as first Women Prime Minister of Australia. Spring Studio live-streamed the event from Melbourne Town Hall for the Victorian Women’s Trust.

Spring Studio filmed and edited clips of ‘C’est un Vie Du Chien’ and ‘Chanson du Pont‘ for Shaking the Tree Choir.

The Victorian Women’s Trust engaged Spring Studio to film and edit an important presentation on Climate Change. ‘A Switch in Time’ featured Tony Windsor and David Karoly speaking at a live event in Melbourne’s CBD.

After that, supporting the Victorian Women’s Trust’s initiative, Spring Studio filmed the ‘Be the Hero’ campaign. American speaker and author Jackson Katz presented his talk against Violence to Women at the Melbourne Town Hall

2001 – 2011 video projects

During this ten year period Spring Studio videoed the Melbourne Millennium Chorus and School’s Chorus concerts at Hamer Hall, and the BMW Edge in Federation square. This led to the production of a series of 15 DVDs and audio CDs.

These productions were for the Boite, a music and performance organisation featuring multicultural artists from Australia. We used several cameras and 24 track audio so we could capture wonderful performances by the 350 voice choir and accompanying bands. Its was a decade of large productions and generally a very satisfying schedule.

Spring Studio undertook production of several large events with The Song Room, Melbourne. We encouraged choirs from disadvantaged schools in Victoria to perform at a number of prestigious venues in Victoria, such as the Melbourne Town Hall and Geelong Performing Arts Centre ( GPAC)

The Gong Unconvention 2006

Spring Studio was employed to travel to Amsterdam in 2006. Consequently I filmed and recorded twenty acts over three days in the legendary Milkweg. After that I returned to Australia, and mixed audio from 48 track recordings and video from five cameras to produce a series of full length concert DVDs for international release.

As a result, the large crowds had the opportunity to revisit this seminal set of performances. Sadly the Unconvention marked the final time the original members of the legendary Gong band were to play together.

Long term Progressive Rock fans highly value this collection of performance videos which have become a legendary set of definitive political, artistic and spiritual statements. The event marked a milestone in European Prog-Rock Music.

Other Projects

In addition to all of the above, I have made clips about energy transition, Public Art, The Federation Bells, music festivals, International travel, access, and many other interesting – some might say ‘off-beat’ topics.
