Sound Booth Plans

Sound Booth Plans:- Have a look below. Can you imagine this as a drum sound booth? If you could fit your kit inside it would have a great drum sound. This booth is suitable for one or two people broadcast/podcast recording, or voice over. Two people singing + playing guitars. Or a small drum kit.

Two or three people a capella. You can place the door and window in any location so it suits your needs. A booth like this takes about three hours to install and furthermore you can move and re install it multiple times without fuss.

1.5 x 3 sound booth plan – ‘thin lizzie’

Below is a plan for a long thin booth. This is featured in this Youtube clip. – it regularly accommodate drums and bass, guitar and saxophone . The sound in this configuration really suits the drum kit, as the drummer mentions in the clip. The frequency response and isolation of this design suits the heavy kit really well, so it is no exaggeration to say the sound of the kit in this configuration is as good as I have heard anywhere.

2 x 2 booth plan

Below is a plan of a larger sound booth as used in a commercial voice and acoustic instrument studio. This would suit to four or five vocalists or maybe two or three instruments. You could create a radio play in this one, by adding some internal baffles. There should be plenty of room for stands and mics as well. This size is installed in ‘Decibels’ Music Studio and several other locations.

2 x 2.5 booth plan

Now we are getting into the larger booth sizes, also known as Doctor Who’s ‘Tardis’. Doesn’t look huge by the numbers, but surprisingly spacious inside. Probably more of a professional sound booth plan so more suitable for drums and two instruments, or four-six vocalists. As with the other plans, the window and door can be placed anywhere.

Sound Booth Plans 3.5 x 3.5 AV Booth

As a final example on this page have a look at this plan of an AV teaching booth in a regional Victorian College. The ceiling is black. These walls are black polyester board with special black inserts (yes!) and the layout features a production area as well as a full black videography area, with excellent acoustics. This can be used for AV production, filming stop motion graphics, in fact all sorts of unexpected uses keep cropping up.
